Support / Concepts / Host Note

A host note is the container of all notes being shown within an editor at one time. A host note may have multiple hosted notes, but a hosted note itself may not have any hosted notes of its own.

Creating a new host note (from scratch)

To create a new host note from scratch, press the icon located at the top of the app to create a new host note with a blank thot piled into the Default Context .

Creating a new host note (by inline note reference)

When creating  Whispers,  Inklings,  Piles,  Files, or  Note References, a new host note can be created by typing said new host note's title in the reference search and then pressing on the toolbar.

The new host note will be piled into the Default Context .

Creating a new host note (indirectly)

A new host note can also be created indirectly as a side-effect of graduating orphaned thots.

The new host note will be piled into the Default Context .

Creating a new host note (by fledging)

A new host note can also be created directly by fledging a hosted note (with Launch Notes or Detach Note).

The new host note will remain sponsored just as it was when it was hosted.

Phrasing

Even though a host note may contain hosted notes, a host note's domain thots only include its root thot's domain thots and do not include domain thots from any hosted notes.
